Charlotte Smiley and the Easter Egg Mystery
It was the last week of Easter, and all the Easter eggs had disappeared from the shops. Charlotte Smiley, a bright yellow egg with a big smile, looked around. “Where is everyone?” she asked her two best friends, Lovely and Cheeky. “We must find out!” said Lovely, who was sweet and kind. “I think someone’s been naughty,” said Cheeky, who was always joking. The three eggs went outside to search. They asked the chocolate bunnies, but they knew nothing. They checked the flower garden, the school playground, and even behind the sweet jars with no luck. “I feel horrible,” said Charlotte. “We’re supposed to be Easter eggs and we lost all the others. Total egg on our face!” “Don’t worry,” said Lovely. “You’re a good egg.” Suddenly, they heard a giggle from a picnic basket. It was the missing eggs! They had planned a surprise party! Cheeky laughed, “I guess the grass isn’t always greener on the other side — it’s greener here with friends!” Charlotte smiled. “Let’s spring into action and celebrate!”
I’m really looking forward to seeing your emoji’s and reading your stories. Happy writing!
A long but very good story from one of our C1 students (wrote a bit more than the 280 words!)
About ten years ago on Easter day I was at the Tacoronte Easter party with my friends, but I don’t know how Jack disappeared.
I left the party to look for him and near the party. I saw a basket with an egg. The egg was very weird, it had two faces, one face was angry and the other face was funny. Then the egg fell out of my hands and it broke. Inside the egg was a note. The note said “I am looking for me in the place where you cook your food.” I read it and later I was going to my house. While I was on my way, I found a dog, I decided to keep it and named it Easter. Then when I was in the kitchen of my house, there I found Jack with a Rabbit named Fluffy.
.
Teacher comment: Well done, a lovely short story and well written too!! I like that your egg had two faces, an original idea.
Teacher: Nice Eggmoji’s….
I ran downstairs on Easter morning to find some chocolate to eat. I got into the kitchen and opened the cupboard where I used to keep the chocolate bars. Suddenly, an Easter rabbit appeared with a basket and lots of Easter eggs in it.
The rabbit smiled and said, Happy Easter! I have a surprise for you!
He gave me a big and colorful egg. The egg moved in my hand. I looked at it and it opened its eyes!
Hi! My name is Charlie, said the egg. I am a magic Easter egg!
I was very surprised. How was the egg talking to me?
Let’s go find some secret chocolate! It said to me.
Charlie jumped and rolled to the door. I followed him outside.
We went through the garden, up a small river into the forest.
After a few minutes, we saw a big tree. Charlie touched the tree, and a small door opened.
Inside the tree, there was a big room full of chocolate!
Happy Easter! This is your surprise! Said my new friend Charlie to me
I smiled and said, “Thank you, Charlie! This is the best Easter ever!”
Teacher comment: Really nice story and very well written too. I like that your Eggmoji comes alive and has a surprise for you!! Well done. Your Eggmoji does look like quite a cheeky happy chap too!
Once upon a time there was a young reporter called Freddie Baldwin. He was called by the phone and was told that he had to work the same day as the Easter party and was terribly disappointed. Once all the family had heard the sad news they were all very disappointed. The next day he set off in his car. He was in a hurry because he had overslept and he didn’t hear the alarm clock and kept on sleeping. He knew his car could arrive in time at the news office but it was a bit unreliable. His car was running nicely through the woods , until a thick column of black smoke came out of the car’s bonnet. Mr Baldwin pulled up in a little clearing between the trees and jumped out of the car. What can I do now ? He asked himself. The road is deserted and I don’t know how to fix this. And to make matters worse, it was starting to rain heavily. He got into the car and tried to call for help, but there was no Internet. He looked for something to entertain himself with . Mr Baldwin found a flimsy cardboard box full of stuff , inside the box there was ; A kitchen rag , a piece of plastic, an almost finished matchbox, a model wagon with some track , a 9 volt battery , a paper clip , an old newspaper and an ant walking around all of this. A truck could be heard in the distance, Mr Baldwin jumped out of the car and waved at it. The lorry stopped and Mr Baldwin asked its driver if he could take him home and the driver said yes. Once they were home they all painted Easter eggs and they created “Eggy” who was almost eaten by their pet Bilby.
[Teacher comment: What a lovely read and so well written with good use of language and grammar, I would have loved to know what he did with the box that he found on the road with all the odd stuff and the one ant?, WELL DONE]
THE END
Hi! I couldn’t attend to class on Thursday because I was ill, and I don’t know which is my character, so I decided to make my own one at home for the story. Thank you Adrian for using your initiative.
My Easter egg:
“The day of the egg hunt”
Finally! It was the day of the egg hunt! Mr. Laugh was really excited because he was going to look for eggs with his cousins, Mr. ‘Meh’ and Mrs. Smiley.
First, they arrived at the city square with the other participants of the hunt and waited until it started. “Let’s spring into action!” said Mrs. Smiley. But after 30 minutes of searching, things started to go wrong: they didn’t find an egg! And not just them: no one found eggs. They decided to search in other places out of the hunt area, but nothing.
“Total egg on our face” said Mr. ‘Meh’. “Yeah, that’s right! Let’s go again to the square to talk with the organisers.” said Mr. Laugh. And they did that.
When they arrived there, they told the organisers there were no eggs, but one of the organisers said: “Are you sure? Mr. Laugh, Mr. ‘Meh’ and Mrs. Smiley didn’t understand. The organizers said “Look your bodies!”. “Aaahhhhhhh, now we understand!” they said all at once. Finally, they called the rest of the participants and told this to everyone. Then, someone said: “Let’s celebrate this day!”. This was the best Easter day ever for everyone.
THE END
[TEACHER COMMENT: Really nice story and very well written, with minor errors, I love that the eggs didn’t realise that they where looking for themselves :-)]
Easter egg hunt
One day, the Easter Bunny started hiding chocolate eggs all over the field, quickly so the children wouldn’t see him. When he finished, he hid in the bushes, looking at the children in the Easter egg hunt.
At the top of the mountain was grandma Claudia’s house and the first kid to find ten eggs would go up the field to tell grandma for winning the contest. The winner of the last year had four eggs in his basket, Guillermo (a new boy in the village), won the contest this year.
The Easter Bunny didn’t believe it and between the dissapointed boys and girls, it went to Guillermo’s basket to look for his Easter eggs. In the basket, the Easter Bunny looked at the eggs and when he tapped one of them, it broke because Guillermo’s Easter eggs were fake. Guillermo didn’t win the contest, his Easter eggs were chickens!
Easter Bunny jumped into his mini Lamborghini, and drove to Claudia’s house to tell her, but a yellow chocolate Easter egg punctured one wheel and the mini car fell down the field.
Only Guillermo saw the mini car falling down and he went to help it. Before the car broke down, Guillermo helped the Easter Bunny and he told the story to the rabbit. He doesn’t have friends and he thinks if he wins he can meet more people.
Finally, all the children forgave Guillermo and they became good friends.
[TEACHER COMMENT: Wells done what an imaginative story, I can see that you made an effort to write it yourself. It is a nice read and easy to follow, I’m glad that Guillermo was forgiven and made some friends”

The Easter Bunny’s journey to hope
The newspaper headlines all reported the big news, The Easter Bunny was on the run! Chaos erupted in the city, the population was highly agitated and worried. Everyone feared that The Easter Bunny had been kidnapped, no one thought he could have fled without looking back just before Easter. Consequently, everyone started searching for him, there was no time to lose. They looked in the most remote places, but they couldn’t find his whereabouts. Faced with the dreaded and complicated situation, Anxious Lilith, a household name journalist, decided to spring into action and showcase her investigation skills. Thus, the first thing she did was analyze the Easter Bunny’s behaviour before his escape through his latest public appearances.
At first glance, everything seemed normal. In the videos, he smiled with his characteristic charm. However, the light in his eyes was gone, there was only desolation and melancholy. Moreover, there was a small detail that did not go unnoticed by Lilith. After talking to his fans, the bunny always sought the warm embrace of his childhood friend, Happy Lucy, who was known for her flower shop. Therefore, Lilith decided to go and ask Lucy, convinced that she had valuable information for the investigation. Nevertheless, Lucy was reluctant to make any statements, feeling that she was disrespecting her dear friend. The only thing she said was that he was not well. In fact, he was going through a severe depression and didn’t want anyone to know.
Lilith was shocked and could only thank her and leave the establishment. She began to wander the streets aimlessly, although her steps led her to the facade of The Easter Bunny’s House. On the porch was his gardener, Happy Federico, pruning some beautiful sunflowers while silently crying. Lilith approached and asked if he was okay. He sincerely replied no, as the bunny was very important to him, and he feared he might have gone to the Dark Rock to do something drastic.
Lilith knew that the Dark Rock was the highest in the world and a fall from there could be fatal. So, she wasted no time and set off on her journey. When she arrived, the sun was setting behind the mountains, and the silhouette of The Easter Bunny could be seen at the top. Lilith approached very carefully so as not to startle him and asked if he needed help. The bunny, who was deeply saddened, admitted that he felt overwhelmed by the pressure of meeting everyone’s expectations and needed a break.
Lilith tried to console him and make him see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. She told him loud and clear: “It’s normal to feel bad, don’t feel like you have egg on your face. Remember that the grass is greener on the other side”.
The bunny smiled and they shared a heartfelt hug. Two weeks later, The Easter Bunny returned. Easter had already passed, but the headlines were filled with “The Easter Bunny changes the date of the festivity”.
In the end, everything in life can be fixed. All it takes is love, empathy and understanding.
Happy Easter!
